Master of Magic

Very disappointing that Death Settlers cannot build cities, even though "Create Outpost" is listed as an ability.

Is this a bug or a feature?

Damn Yankees

The New York Yankees were eliminated from the MLB playoffs by the Detroit Tigers.

Very satisfying to see the overpaid underachievers lose.

Neil Gaiman

http://www.startribune.com/politics/statelocal/121364084.html

Weird story.

And I did not know that he now lives in Wisconsin.

Addendum: Since he has lived in Wisconsin for decades, I must have known that at some point and forgotten it.

The Man from Laramie

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0048342/

Jimmy Stewart in a Western classic.

Not one of my favorites but well worth watching.

Jack Elam and Arthur Kennedy are both good in supporting roles.

Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy

http://www.abbottandcostello.net/

One of my favorite Abbott & Costello movies and one of my favorite Mummy movies.

Worth watching over and over.

Hill Street Blues

http://www.hillstreetblues.tv/

I have fond memories of the TV series.

Red Riding Hood

We saw Red Riding Hood this afternoon.

Dark, scary, and violent considering the PG-13 rating.

Amanda Seyfried, Virginia Madsen, and Julie Christie were all good.

Chore Wars

Battled no monsters but made Level 16 Shaman.

Straitest

Latest Greatest Straitest Hits by George Strait

Weepy, dreary, and largely forgettable modern country music.

Particularly ironic because the second track, "Murder on Music Row," laments the passing of traditional country music.

Lucky for me, I listened to the library copy instead of buying it.

Friday, March 4, 2011

Chore Wars

I made Level 11 Shaman today.

Rango

We saw Rango tonight.

Fun movie but I would have preferred more rude talk, smoking, and killing.

Good soundtrack.

And a lot of humorous moments.

I laughed so hard I almost suffered incontinence.

Rango

http://movies.nytimes.com/2011/03/04/movies/04rango.html?nl=todaysheadlines&emc=tha210

Johnny Depp, rude talk, smoking, and killing.

I am definitely going to see this.

The Adjustment Bureau

http://movies.nytimes.com/2011/03/04/movies/04adjust.html?nl=todaysheadlines&emc=tha28

Very loosely based on the Philip Dick story.

I probably will not see it until it comes out on DVD.

Unfortunately, it is not in the MCFLS.

Embassy

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068538/

Spy thriller with Richard Roundtree and Chuck Connors.

I saw it many years ago and would like to see it again.

Unfortunately, it is not in the MCFLS.

Maybe this is a reason to get Netflix?

Borders bites the big one

Thanks to Elizabeth for sending me this link.

I spent a lot of time and a lot of money at that north side Borders in the good old days.

Bullitt

I have seen this movie several times, and I never get tired of it.

Steve McQueen is excellent as the no-nonsense police lieutenant.

Robert Vaughn is outstanding as the easy-to-hate politician.

Norman Fell and Simon Oakland are OK as bad and good police captains respectively.

A very young looking Robert Duvall has a cameo as a taxi driver.

Features one of the all-time great car chases.

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Blackstar

http://blackstargame.com/

Jay Quitler

http://sportifi.com/news/Jay-Cutler-Branded-a-Quitter-by-NFL-Players-on-Twitter-553581.html

I am amazed bordering upon stupification by the number of haters that came out against Jay Cutler.

Some fans burned Cutler jerseys.

People were buying Jay Quitler t-shirts.

Sunday, January 23, 2011

Mamma Mia!

We watched the Blu-ray on the PS3.

Meryl Streep looked like she was having a lot of fun in the role as the mother of the bride.

Amanda Seyfried has an awesome voice.
